What Is QRIS?

QRIS is Indonesia's QR Code payment standard, with a different purpose from a regular QR Code that opens a website, form, menu, or microsite.

QRIS stands for Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard. It is a QR payment standard established by Bank Indonesia. QRIS allows payment applications from participating providers to read the same standard when customers pay a merchant.

QRIS vs a Marketing QR Code

Main purposeProcess a paymentOpen a URL or information
Managed byPayment providers in the QRIS ecosystemQR creator or link service
DataTransaction or merchant informationURL, text, contact, or other data
Scan resultPayment flowWeb page or another encoded action

QRIS supports different modes, including static and dynamic merchant-presented modes. Here, “static” and “dynamic” describe the payment flow and transaction amount. They should not be treated as identical to a dynamic marketing QR Code that uses an intermediary URL.

A regular QR generator does not register a merchant or turn a URL into QRIS. To accept QRIS payments, a seller must use a channel from an eligible payment provider. s.id Shop may offer local payment flows through supported products or payment links. Features and payment methods can change, so users should check the latest product information.

Use an s.id QR Code to send an audience to a legitimate catalog, microsite, or payment page, not to imitate a QRIS payment symbol.
