What Is a Payment Link?
A payment link sends a buyer to checkout or payment instructions for a particular transaction.
A payment link is a URL that opens a payment page, checkout, or transaction instructions. A seller can share it through WhatsApp, email, social media, a microsite, or a QR Code so a buyer does not need to search for the product page manually.
Payment Link vs Short Link
A short link is only an intermediary address for another URL. It does not automatically create an invoice, verify a payment, or deliver a product. A payment link connects to a store or payment system that understands the amount, transaction description, recipient, and payment status. A payment link can be shortened for distribution, but the transaction function still comes from the destination service.
Information That Should Be Clear
- Seller or recipient name
- Product, service, or payment purpose
- Amount and currency
- Any additional fees
- Link or order expiration
- Available payment methods
- Confirmation and next steps after payment
- A support channel for transaction problems
In Indonesia, a payment link may offer QRIS or other methods through a supporting payment provider. A regular QR Code that contains only a URL is not the same as QRIS. Before paying, users should check the domain, recipient identity, and transaction details.
